What's this about pie?

If you celebrate Thanksgiving, I am sure you have a favorite part of the meal. While the turkey is usually the star of the show at most traditional Thanksgiving dinners, there are many who can’t wait for dessert to be served.

When you think about Thanksgiving desserts, the first thing that comes to mind is usually pie.  Although accounts vary as to what might have been served to satisfy the sweet tooths of those at the first Thanksgiving, there is one universal consensus: there was no pumpkin pie. The dish that has become synonymous with the traditional Thanksgiving dinner was not sitting on the table during that feast. That doesn’t mean, however, that there was no pumpkin. Although there was no flour for a crust, some accounts state that pumpkins may have been hollowed out, filled with milk, honey and spices, and then roasted in hot ashes to make a custard. That seems like a pretty delicious pie alternative!

Are you looking for something sweet to go with your Thanksgiving feast this month, and don’t really want to be hollowing out pumpkins and preparing hot ash? Check out the books in my Recipe for Love series! Read some sweet romance, and then head into the kitchen to make one of the actual recipes in the books and wow your Thanksgiving guests.
